About Asheville Septic Services

We Learned This Business From the Ground Up — Literally

Asheville Septic Services started with Kyle Miller’s father in the 1980s, running routes across Buncombe County long before the mountain saw the growth it has now. Kyle grew up around the trucks and tanks and now runs the company himself, on the same principle his dad worked by: tell the customer the truth about what’s under their yard.

The Person Behind the Business

Meet Kyle Miller

Kyle grew up riding along in his father’s pump truck before he was old enough to drive one. His dad started the business in the 1980s, back when a lot of Buncombe County was still farmland and vacation cabins rather than the subdivisions climbing the ridgelines today. Kyle spent his teenage summers doing the grunt work — digging test pits, hauling hose, learning to guess where the tank probably was before anyone told him. By the time he was running his own crew, he’d already seen most of what a mountain septic system could throw at him.

These days Kyle still gets out on service calls himself, especially the ones that sound complicated over the phone. He’s raising his own kids in the same part of the county he grew up in, and he’ll tell you that’s part of why a job doesn’t go out the door with a shortcut in it — there’s a decent chance he’ll run into that homeowner at the grocery store, or the same crew will be back at that property in five years for something else. Easier to just do it right the first time.

How We Work

Three Things We Won’t Skip on a Job

None of this is complicated. It’s mostly about not cutting corners on the parts homeowners can’t see for themselves.

🔍

We Show You What We Found

Not just “it’s fine” or “it’s bad” — we’ll point out the actual scum layer, root intrusion, or wet spot in the field.

💬

We Explain Before We Recommend

A repair-versus-replace decision deserves a real explanation, not a quote you’re supposed to just sign.

🌱

We Treat Your Yard Like We’re Coming Back

Proper backfill, flagged utilities, reseeded ground when the job calls for it — because we usually are back, eventually.

We Show You What We Found

When we pull a lid or run a camera through a line, we don’t just tell you “it’s fine” or “it’s bad.” We’ll show you the scum layer, point out where roots have worked into a joint, or walk you out to the drain field so you can see the soft spot yourself. A homeowner who understands what’s actually happening underground makes better decisions about what to fix now versus what can wait a season.

We Explain Before We Recommend

Every property owner ends up making a call about their own septic system eventually — repair or replace, how often to pump, whether a new deck or driveway can sit on top of the drain field. We’d rather spend the extra ten minutes explaining the tradeoffs than hand someone a quote they don’t fully understand.

We Treat Your Yard Like We’re Coming Back

Digging on a mountain lot means working around landscaping, retaining walls, and grading that took someone real money to put in. We flag utilities before we dig, backfill properly instead of leaving a mound, and reseed disturbed ground when the job calls for it — because on a lot of these properties, we probably will be back.
